The frequency of hedge trimming can depend on several factors, including the type of hedge, its growth rate and desired height and shape. Here are some general guidelines for how often different types of hedges should be trimmed:.

1. Formal Hedges: Hedges that are trimmed to maintain a formal, neat appearance typically require more frequent trimming. Depending on the growth rate, they may need to be trimmed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
