The amount of sunlight your garden plants need depends on the specific type of plant. Generally, garden plants can be categorised into three main groups based on their sunlight requirements: full sun, partial sun/partial shade, and shade. 

• Full Sun Plants typically require at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
• Partial Sun/Partial Shade Plants typically require 3-6 hours of direct sunlight per day, ideally in the morning or late afternoon.
• Shade Plants typically require less than 3 hours of direct sunlight per day, with mostly indirect light throughout the day.

In the UK, garden plants generally require watering about once a week, but this can vary depending on the season and weather conditions. During hot and dry spells, more frequent watering may be necessary, while in cooler, wetter periods, you might need to water less often. It's important to check the soil moisture: if the top inch of soil is dry, it's time to water. Early morning or late evening watering is best to minimise evaporation and allow plants to absorb moisture more effectively.
